In April, the Eco-Bricks Project in Palawan focused on combining environmental education with hands-on sustainability work. We made 27 eco-bricks throughout the month, collecting usable materials during street and coastal clean-ups before returning to camp to assemble the bricks. These activities not only helped reduce plastic waste but also raised awareness about sustainable practices in the local community.
Alongside eco-brick making, the team engaged in several educational and creative initiatives. We taught children about microplastics and plastic pollution, created mural paintings on school walls, and designed posters for local schools and villages to highlight the impacts of plastic waste. Additionally, we worked in the camp’s garden by mixing fertilizer, watering seedlings, and even harvesting string beans, contributing to both community awareness and local food sustainability.
