Digital Classrooms & Thematic Learning

At the Pejeng Kindergarten in Bali, October was a celebration of curiosity, creativity and connection. We had our first introduction of digital learning tools!

The overarching theme of the month was ‘Animals’ with a focus on land animals. Lessons explored animal types, habitats, pet care and life cycles. These concepts came alive through interactive activities such as coloring, drawing, word tracing and storytelling. Each class also explored one specific animal per day to deepen understanding through repetition and creativity.

Midway through the month, students enjoyed a Mid-Semester Break, where regular class structure was replaced with inter-class competitions and outdoor discovery. A field trip to the rice fields offered real-life observation of local animals: ducks, chickens and dogs. This was followed by art sessions where children recreated what they saw. Competitions like marble runs, ball relays and shoe-tying races added a sense of fun and teamwork to the break.

Meanwhile, Bali’s Ministry of Education’s Digitalization Learning Initiative was officially launched, providing access to an Interactive Flat Panel Smart Screen. This has transformed daily instruction, allowing children to engage with letters, numbers and themes through multimedia experiences.

Friday’s remained a community favorite: ‘We Are Clean & Healthy’ – a hands-on health and hygiene module woven into every week.
