Festive Pause, Creative Play: A Cultural Month in the Classroom

October in Kathmandu was marked by local celebrations, leading to lighter school attendance and a shift in classroom rhythm. With many students away for the festival period, we adapted by creating a playful, inclusive space for those who remained. This ensured no one was left behind academically.

Instead of progressing through the formal curriculum, the team focused on creative activities like drawing, movie screenings and interactive discussions that kept students engaged while allowing their peers to return without falling behind. The relaxed pace provided time for expression, connection and joyful learning in a culturally respectful way.

Standout Stats

  • 22 students participated across three sessions
  • 3 creative learning sessions held during the festival period
  • 2 classrooms adapted lessons to align with student availability
  • 1 culturally sensitive approach to learning continuity
