This month, we are very proud to feature one of our newest projects. The Greenway school in Siem Reap is our second Greenway school in Cambodia. It is an after-school education project, where children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds come to learn English. Opened in November 2024, the school already has about 60 students.

In Cambodia, students attend a regular public school for four hours per day, where they don’t get the chance to learn a lot of English. The public-school shifts are divided into a morning group and an afternoon group, giving the children a chance to come to our education centre during their free time (e.g., the morning group can attend our afternoon shift and vice versa).

The children who come to the Greenway school, come from the villages nearby the Greenway school. Their ages range from 6 to 13. Most currently possess just a basic level of English, but using our established curriculum, we are able to accommodate beginners all the way up to level 5. What is so unique and amazing about the Education Centre, is that the children come of their own accord and truly enjoy their time here.

This January, the Siem Reap Greenway School was full of engaging and educational activities. Students participated in a team-building game to improve communication and teamwork. They learned proper tooth-brushing techniques, the importance of healthy eating and promoting good hygiene, and planted their own vegetables, gaining hands-on experience in gardening. They also increased their environmental awareness by watering plants and expressed creativity through wall painting. Additionally, students helped set up new handwashing stations, reinforcing cleanliness and teamwork. We are really looking forward to further developing the school!
